How You Breathe Is How You Live
The Power of Intention with Breath Work
What You Can Expect
Check in right now with this test. Take a moment, close your eyes and breathe.
How Are You Breathing?
Is your breath shallow, quick, short, do you get enough air, are you blowing out as you exhale? Where does it go in your body? Where does it not go? What does it feel like when you breathe? Does it stop between the inhale and exhale? Is it strong, bold, taking as much in as you deserve? Is it open and flowing? Is it effortless and easy? Acute observation is how you determine your breathing patterns. You know how your body feels when you breathe and you can make simple corrections to create healthier patterns.
Your breathing affects every function in the body.
When we are babies born healthfully, we breathe correctly. Our bodies have innate knowledge of how to breathe but over a lifetime of being scared, gasping, holding our breath, sighing, shallow breathing, pausing between breaths, having the wind knocked out of us, and so on we form bad habits that constrict our breathing ability. We do all this as a response to cope with our thoughts, fears and beliefs.
Unfortunately we end up with myriad health problems, emotional instability, anxiety and excess stress. Then we wonder how it happened and can’t find the real answers, though we will see every doctor and therapist we can to help ourselves get back on track.
When a person experiences shallow quick breaths, the body cannot receive the necessary oxygen to perform even simple tasks. It cannot bring enough oxygen to the brain and cells for proper functioning.
There are four sections of your respiratory system and if your breathing is compromised in any one of these areas, you will experience illness.
You can easily change an old pattern by giving the body a new one. It will take a little time and patience as your muscles get used to the new way of breathing. The first time you practice Whole-Body Breathing you will have an immediate response. Your body will feel it and make the connection that deep breathing helps you feel relaxed. Then your body will naturally want to do it again and again.
What if breathing easier really can make a difference in how you are living your life?
Take a breath, how inflated can your lower abdomen get? Are you gently widening all the muscles so the diaphragm and lower lobes of the lungs can fully expand downward? This is where your health comes into play, as you breathe toward this area, the body is receiving oxygen, cleansing the blood, bringing vitality, aiding digestion, metabolism, and the endocrine system. Every cell in your body requires oxygen to function and when the cell does not get oxygen it is operating on toxins. How long do you think a car can operate on toxic fumes? Same with the human body it will break down system by system if it does not have it's most important fuel.
Symptoms to look for are:
fatigue, headaches, shortness of breath, taking catch up breaths, lack of concentration, poor digestion, cold hands and feet, depression, sore neck and shoulders, lack of enthusiasm about life and in extreme cases, asthma and emphysema. The list is long and all of this might be occurring due to poor breathing habits.
Oxygen deprivation makes the body switch over to anaerobic metabolism, producing tissue acidosis, which can be painful and perhaps more effective breathing is a key to finding help for muscle tension, arthritis and fibromyalgia.
When you begin to breathe properly your health improves, your attitude toward living improves and you have more energy to do the things you enjoy.
The Power of Intention with Breath Work
Imagine for a moment if your body’s healthy, your mind is clear, your intuition that inner voice is strong. You are unafraid to really live. You are empowered, inspired and true to yourself in every area of your life. How extraordinary you are!!!
Do you believe that holding in your mind an image of yourself as healthy would help your body adapt itself to fit that image? What if creating this new self-image gave your body a goal and as mind and body come together, the process of healing is sped up and recovery of your vital life force takes place?
Do you have a clear image of yourself, of your body as it would be looking and feeling if you were really healthy?
Every breath you take either says yes to life or it says no.
You have the voluntary skill to manage your breathing and perhaps change how you live. Your breath is a connecting force between mind and body.
Effective breathing allows you to take control over your own health and state-of-mind.
What we believe, we become. What we believe is what we get.
The mind is willing to believe the truth and it is also willing to make a lie become true. The mind is indifferent. Breath work can help you create a new self-image. You can also uncover old memories and beliefs that no longer serve you. While you are breathing you are reprogramming the mind/body connection in order to interrupt the signals currently being played out and change them to fit your new self-image.
Through the breathing process you discover what may be keeping your body from healing. Then you have the power to change it.
What to You Can Expect
"I felt energy moving through my body. This is the most effective transforming experience. Now I know how to tap into my own storehouse of energy and am very clear about my life."
Karen Pascarella, Business Development-Entertainment
Whole-Body Breathing is a holistic approach to regaining your sense of inner power and authority regarding your life. It becomes a way of living.
As one comes to know the body’s wisdom, the mind/body connection is open and that power creates a healthy lifestyle and a healthy body. Breathing deeply can also give you a sense of spirituality within and lead you to experience a connectedness with all things.
When you are creating a relationship with your breathing you are also creating a new relationship to yourself. In fact what is going on inside is mirrored by what is going on outside. Therefore if you change how you relate to yourself you are also changing how you relate to the world and the people in your life. You will notice these relationships changing and improving. You learn to hold yourself in high esteem and attract that back into your life experiences.
This type of breath work has led many people to finding the love of their lives because they free up the garbage that is holding them back from receiving what they really desire. It is simply a matter of becoming who you want to be and then letting like attract like.
In working with many people over the years I have seen relationships flourish and new loves come leading to marriage and children and general happiness. This is a nice bonus of learning to breathe if you hold the intention to have more love in your life.
Once you learn this style of breathing, it becomes second nature. It can be a great aid in managing stress and emotions. You will find yourself more balanced, centered and in a calm state, moving and flowing with life rather than struggling through it.
As you experience something, whether negative or positive, your body responds and your breathing is affected.
If you learn the skill of using your breath as a tool, you can actually change your emotional and physical responses to any given situation. You consciously choose your reactions.
No one knows your body better than you do, and believe it or not, your body has its own wisdom. It really can tell you what it needs. It already does as in pain, illness, constriction or tension. This is the language your body has and it might be trying to get your attention. When you don't attend to the body's needs it will use stronger tactics until you are forced to deal with it and make changes.
With each breath, you take a moment for yourself pay attention and give the gift of life force to your body.
Whole-Body Breathing includes learning how to be present inside the body and direct the breath with an intention to create a result whether it is understanding yourself better or just to feel great.
Breathing is something we have to do anyway. Why not do it as effectively as you can?
There is no end to our ability to become self-aware. Seeing clearly, making congruent choices and directing the flow of your energy is an amazing way to live and have more joy.
